How to Become an Authority in Your Niche

When people enter a store to buy something, what do think drew them in to begin with? Could it be the way the store looks on the outside? Is it their price point? How the store smells? Its size? Or is it the people who work there?

There may be a difference of opinion among people, but research proves that most people by far, give their business to the people they know, like and trust.

Has a sales person ever been rude to you?  You’re shopping at a very busy clothing store and the sales associate assures you they will be with you momentarily. You stand around waiting for 15 minutes and it becomes clear that they are just too busy. You go up and ask for help once more and they come right out and tell you as much!

How are you feeling right about now? It’s very apparent that this sales associate doesn’t value your patronage at all! Knowing this, you will probably leave and never come back, right?

This unfortunate situation is quite common in retail, but it’s not just confined to brick and mortar stores, it happens online as well. When people visit your website they are not only seeing how well it’s put together, but they are looking at the person behind the business. They are looking at and sizing you up!

Your challenge is getting them to like you without ever meeting them in person. To do this you need to somehow get known in your niche to build up a level of trust with your audience. They need to think of you as an expert in whatever products and/or services you are selling, otherwise they will not stay long enough to buy. How can you accomplish this?

Your name, your image, along with what you represent must blanket the Internet. You do this by providing value; creating EPIC content; writing blog post, doing what others don’t want to do– like creating videos and hosting webinars. Participate in chat rooms and lead discussions in forums.

Exploit every possible method to get yourself out there in cyberspace so that your name becomes familiar to everyone in your niche

When someone shows up at your door trying to sell you something, how do you feel? You don’t know them; you have no idea who they are or what they’re selling, so how could you have enough trust to buy anything from them?

This is what happens online as well. If you don’t know or have never heard of the person behind a website promoting something, you would not be inclined to buy from them.

There is no level of trust…

Once you get your name out there and people know who you are, and what you represent, you will start seeing more sales and  success will come your way.

    You are so right on in your post, thank you 🙂 Being able to stand out and put yourself “out” there so others can see your value is key to having success online. Getting out of your comfort zone can be difficult at first, but if you keep on consistently sharing value, people WILL take notice 🙂

    I am off to blanket the internet right now Demetri, that is so true.
    I do believe though that people do buy from others without knowing who they are. As long as they feel that connection from the content they have found. So its an energy thing right! Thats why we blog and SEO our content so others can find it, connect with “Our spirit” which we pour into our content and find the solution to their pain, desire or need! Thanks for sharing
